Preschool, Birthday, Half Marathon and Surgery

Well, almost another month has come and gone since I last updated the blog. It's amazing how fast time goes. Earlier this month, Samuel started preschool. He seems to like it and it's so fun to see him learn.
 Our handsome Sam.
Giving him kisses before I send him off to attend his first day of preschool.
Going to preschool. That was another emotional day for me. After dropping Sam off, I called Morgan to vent my Mommy woes through tears and then went to the gym (just started a new membership) and exercised for a lil' while.
I miss these kids so much while they are away at school, one afternoon, after picking them up from school we went and picked up a pizza and we rented the movie "Home" and we watched it in front of the tv in the basement. T'was fun:) I love my kiddos.
Each night before Morgan and I head to bed, we go into the kids rooms and close their windows and give them kisses and make sure they are comfortable in their beds. One particular night, earlier this month, this is what I found. Noel and her baby. She loves playing Mommy and this was such a precious moment for me to see. This little girl sure melts my heart sometimes while I watch her take care of her dolls.
The following night, I found Samuel asleep with a book laying on his chest. The kids like to "read" and look at books before they fall asleep.
Samuel got stuck in the chairs under our table.
So, I had my 31st birthday and Morgan got me this card. He thinks he's so funny.
Morgan and the kiddos made me one of my fav's, Pear Cake.
On my birthday weekend (Labor Day weekend), we had Chris and Kareena and their kiddos over, Mikey and Caitlin and Christopher Gomm over. We had a blast!
I took the kiddos to McDonalds recently so they could get their wiggles out at the play place.
Samuel learned about Johnny Appleseed at preschool.
Morgan ran in his second 1/2 marathon. He did the Revel Big Cottonwood Half Marathon. The majority of his race was downhill and was just under a 3,000 ft elevation drop from start to finish. He ran in just under 2 hrs at 1 hr and 57 minutes. I'm so proud of him.

For a few weeks now the kids have had swimming lessons. Their teacher is amazing! She lives just 2 minutes away from us and has an indoor pool on her property. It's just the two of them in their lessons and they are doing so well. They only have 2 more sessions left this week and they will be done. They have become a lot more comfortable with the water but we will probably end up signing them up with her again for 1 or 2 more months sometime this winter when her schedule opens up a little more.
Swimming with noodles into the deep end.
Samuel drying off in our backyard after getting home from swimming lessons.
On this particular day I just had to take a pic of our handsome lil' guy. He just looked so grown up to me. He was wearing new pants and shoes that we had just got for him because he is growing so fast.
So this half alive black widow was in our backyard. We've found probably about 3 or 4 so far since living here, but I married a man who knows exactly how to kill these suckers.
We've had some great cooler weather with rain this past week...
 ...finally cool enough for slippers!
After 3 1/2 months of sitting on the floor watching the tv, we finally were able to get a couch. We love it and we actually rearranged the basement once we got it.
We put the tv on the opposite end of the room and now behind the couch is where the kids designated play area will be.
Sam wrote his name for me all by himself the other day. Obviously it's still a work in progress, but wow. Just a few weeks worth of preschool and he's able to do this!
So, for those of you who don't know, I had surgery a few days ago, on Friday, September 18th. Almost a year ago, I was referred to a Reproductive, Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist. At that time, he determined via a procedure, that I have what is a called a Septate Uterus. Here's the definition: "A uterine septum is a form of a congenital malformation where the uterine cavity is partitioned by a longitudinal septum; the outside of the uterus has a normal typical shape." So the picture below is a partial septate uterus but from what the doctor showed me, mine still wasn't as severe, it is probably half of that size of septum. This is what the doctor believes to have caused a placental abruption when I was pregnant with Sam which is why his pregnancy was so complicated. The doctor is also stunned that I haven't had any other pregnancy complications, miscarriages, etc. He believes that Samuel's placenta attached to the septum, which isn't as sure of a place as the other parts of the uterus which he believes is where Noel's placenta attached, which led to her normal healthy delivery.
So about a couple months ago, we started feeling like it was perhaps time to start growing our family more and after lots of prayer and fasting, we scheduled another appt with the specialist and then scheduled the surgery. I was sedated completely for this procedure and the surgery itself only took about 40 minutes. There are no incisions with this surgery. They go up through the cervix with a camera and cut the septum down the middle until there is at most 1 cm of the septum left but in some cases, there is no septum left at all. Supposedly they do not take any tissue out of the uterus. So that was done on Friday. I was really nervous but felt a lot of peace from prayers of family and friends on our behalf. There are small risks to this procedure and one of them scared me quite a bit, with it being that the instrument that the doctor is using during surgery to cut the septum may actually go through the uterine wall which creates huge risks in having more kids or actually takes away the possibility of having more kids.

After giving Morgan a kiss goodbye, the anesthesiologist and his assistant were wheeling me to the operating room and they must've began sending me "the good stuff" through the iv during that time because wow, I've never felt so loopy and awesome at the same time!;) Then they put the breathing mask on my face and had me breathe deeply several times and I was out. I remember waking up at 10:08am but the nurse told me that I was awake for 20 minutes prior to that and we were having conversations and everything. I don't remember any of that! The doctor went and discussed how the surgery went with Morgan and showed him before and after pics of everything during the surgery and told him the surgery was a success and that everything should heal well. They left a balloon in my uterus so that the uterus can heal and that will be taken out tomorrow morning.
I was actually feeling great after discharge....
...after getting home in the afternoon, I was trying to nap when I started feeling like my allergies were acting up. I couldn't sleep because of it, it was so frustrating. So after a couple hours I went downstairs to where Morgan and the kids were and from there it just got worse. I felt this prickly stinging/burning sensation in my eyes as if needles were being poked in my eyes, or as if there was acid in my eyes, my nose was burning like I needed to sneeze and sometimes I would have bouts of crazy sneezing attacks but the feeling of needing to sneeze was constant and just burned, and I had this painful pressure in my sinuses. I called the on call specialist and he said that this was not normal and that I could be allergic to latex (the balloon that they had left in my uterus) or the antibiotics they prescribed me with and to try to wait it out til the morning when he could see me at his Salt Lake clinic. So, that is what I did, I only was able to get a few hours of sleep total that night, and poor Morgan was only able to get about 4, which was difficult since we had been up since 5am the morning before. Most of the night I was just shaking in pain and crying because it hurt so bad. Morgan rushed me to the clinic in the morning where the doctor made sure that I wasn't having a reaction to the latex and going into anaphylactic shock and diagnosed it as a reaction to the goop the anesthesiologist put in my eyes after I was sedated, prior to surgery. I didn't even know they do that. Supposedly they tape your eyes shut too. So, there you have it, I had a severe allergic reaction to the eye goop. Benadryl and eye drops have been my friend and I have been able to get some good sleep since.
