Evelyn being cute as always.
Snuggling and reading books.
Because Evelyn turned 2 she graduated to a forward facing car seat. She absolutely loves it and I love to be able to look back and see her now along with Noel and Sam's bright shining faces:)
Finishing touches to the home before we put it on the market. Painting the front door was the last thing along with adding garage door hardware.
The Before Picture.
After the door was complete.
The after picture with the painted door and the garage door hardware.
A morning view of it.
For a fun Sunday activity Morgan showed us this really cool cemetery that we have here in Spanish Fork that he discovered on an early morning run. It's called the "Pioneer Heritage Cemetery". It was so neat. We walked around and read each story that was shared around the cemetery.
Most of the stories were just so sad.
Reading another story.
Evelyn wanted to wear her snow boots.
August 4th a fire started up our canyon by lightning. The smoke got so bad that we'd smell the smoke all the time, even in our house. Last I heard is that it was 80% contained and has burned over 30,000 acres. So crazy! This picture was only the very beginning.
We had the pleasure of visiting with Morgan's Aunt Cathy and Uncle Tom who were in town. We had a great visit and they were so sweet to take us out to dinner.
August 9th our house went on the market. As of right now we are under contract and the 7 due diligence has passed and we close on the 20th of September. We will move just around the corner into a town home which we will rent for a year or 2 (that's the plan so far) and with the sale of our home we will be able to get rid of all of our debts, student loans and all. We are so excited for this new adventure of saving money and having more time with our kids.
The air quality got so bad here in Spanish Fork. We didn't anything outside on the days that were this bad and unhealthy.
We had showing for about 8 or 9 days until we went under contract on the 10th day. During all of those showings we went out to dinner a lot. Evelyn enjoyed her ice cream cone at Hu Hot.
During one of our Sunday Family Game Nights Sam was being ingenuitive by holding his cards with his toes.
During more showings we went out for donuts.
Looking towards Spanish Fork from the freeway in Springville.
Went to the park to play during more showings.
Evelyn fell down our front concrete steps onto her face. Her nose swelled a little and got scraped up. Poor thing.
Starting to scab. Don't you just love her face. She looks frustrated that she fell on it.
We went to the Bean Museum at BYU. The kids loved it.
Noel's ear drum ruptured due to a cold that caused an ear infection. Every morning and night we had to put ear drops in her ear for 8 days.
In Heber, about ready to get his short cast.
Hooray! It took him a little while to be able to move his elbow and twist his wrist. Everything was a little tender.
Park time.
Another park, cuz...showings:)
We enjoyed a walk down the Spanish Fork River Trail and came across this joke: "Why do scientists not trust atoms?....Because they make up everything!"
Enjoying our walk.
We saw this old car wreck as we were walking alongside the river.
Look at those scabs on her nose!
Noel and Sam playing on the piano.
Well, Sam started throwing up the night before school started. He felt fine meeting his teacher and checking out his classroom the night before and after dinner it hit. He missed the first 2 days of school. Poor guy.
Here's Noel's first day of 3rd grade picture (taken after school because the morning was a little hectic with Sam being sick).
Evelyn being as cute as ever.
Sam resting. He was up all night the first night, laying on the bathroom floor, throwing up in between trying to sleep. I felt so bad for him. He wasn't keeping anything down.
While Sam was sick, he had a couple of delirious episodes/hallucinations. He was downstairs on the couch sleeping for a little while and I saw that he was waking up so I went down there to check on him to see how he was doing and he just stared at me, with his eyes dialated, mouth open, looking like he was trying to speak but couldn't form words. He would laugh and then all of a sudden he would start to cry. He complained about Morgan poking him and then said Noel was doing something to him. He said that the rocks were going to crush him. I was so scared that somehow, whatever was ailing Sam took him, mentally. He was acting as if he had brain damage or something. I worried about Sever Onset of Type 1 Diabetes. Worry. Worry. Worry. I rushed over to the doctors office (luckily, the kids doctors office has an evening clinic and his doctor was the one that was in that evening). By the time we got there he snapped out of it. The doctor said that it was due to his sickness and fever and that sometimes a child's fever doesn't even have to be high for things like this to happen. It sometimes just happens to some kids. He did have a fever at the time and it went down with the motrin. Poor guy.
Then later that night, before we went to bed I went in to have him drink a little bit of water to keep him hydrated. He had another episode. I grabbed him and brought him into our room where I had Morgan video in case we needed to show it to a doctor of some sort eventually. It was the same thing as before. Just staring, trying to speak, then speaking but mumbling and not making sense. He never snapped out of that one fully. Luckily, it didn't happen after that one. We think that it was possibly that he was sleeping still but looked awake, like sleep walking or something. That kid was so exhausted from being up all night the first night that we think it could have also been that his body was so tire that he didn't fully wake up before these episodes. Anyways, it was scary but glad it's over. Sam doesn't remember any of that. I sure will!
We had a couple of insane thunderstorms. We got tons of rain. More than I have ever seen here in Spanish Fork. The lightning was continuous as well as the thunder.
Well, Sam was finally able to go to school and on that same day we had our home inspection, so Evelyn and I went to the movies. We were the only ones in the theater. We saw "Christopher Robin". It was so cute.
Sam's first day of 1st grade was a success! I'm so glad he felt better that morning. It was such a miracle that he did. The night before he was super weak and dizzy and hardly had eaten anything. But the next morning he literally popped out of bed and was his normal silly self. We were so grateful.
Evelyn trying on my work shoes.
A couple Saturdays ago the kids and I attended the Planes, Trains and Automobiles Event at the Spanish Fork Airport. It was really cool! We got to see a Car Show...
...a bunch of planes take off in a race...
...what I assumed to be a Black Hawk Helicopter...
...the kids got to sit in a plane...
...watch parachutists land on a target on the ground...
...see Gail Halvorsen the Berlin Candy Bomber...
....
...watch Gail Halvorsen drop a bunch of parachutes with candy out of a helicopter...
...it was pretty darn cool. The kids were supposed to get one of the parachutes but once they went out in the field to get one, they'd all been taken because there was such a large crowd there.
That evening Morgan and I got a babysitter and went on a much needed date. We went to Cafe Rio for dinner. Then we were on our way to a Tiny Home Showcase when we saw this car on the freeway with Woody from Toy Story hanging out of the trunk of a car. It was hilarious!
Tiny Home Showcase. I love the minimalist idea of living. Maybe someday:)
Inside a tiny home.
Then we went up Provo Canyon up to the Sundance Mountain Resort and took a romantic, peaceful Full Moon Lift Ride on the Ski lift up the side of the mountain. It was so neat. It was about a 40 to 45 minute ride. All we needed was a light jacket. All we could hear were crickets. All it was, was heaven on earth.
Just after getting on.
Smoochy smoochy.
One word...Evelyn.
Evelyn and I went for a 4 mile walk the other day on the Spanish Fork River Trail. It's been nice to have the time to do that now that the kids are in school.
It's a beautiful trail.
We always stop at the playground there before leaving. Evelyn loves playing at the playground.
What a cutie.
A lazy morning.
Silly Evelyn.
Noel started up another season of soccer.
The view I woke up to this morning. Evelyn helping her Daddy out in the garden. It was too cute watching her out there in some work gloves harvesting the cucumbers and tomatoes.
I just thought I'd share before and after pictures of our backyard because we finally got it the way we want it recently.
The before's were taken at the beginning of last year, 2017.
After, as of a month ago.
Before.
After.
Before.
After.
Before.
After.
Other views of our current backyard.
It was a ridiculously tough decision to move but we felt strongly it was time so we could provide a better now and a better future for our family by getting out of debt and saving like crazy. Sacrifice brings forth blessings, right? I have to keep telling myself that. We are in love with our backyard and are going to miss everything we've done to make it ours and all the space we have there. It will definitely be different not having a backyard when we are renting the town home. But we are on to bigger and better things though with this move! Here's to change!
