Moaning Cavern, CA

After our adventures at Calavares Big Trees we went to the Moaning Cavern. Morgan had never been in a cave before so it was pretty darn cool. There were two ways into this cave. The entrance below where you walk down well over 200 flights of stairs 165 ft under the earths surface or repel the entire 165 ft (the 2nd picture). I am so afraid of heights so we walked down and back up. It was a great workout.

After you walk down the first 65 ft, the cave opens up into this big deep room that goes down another 100 ft where it is said that the statue of liberty could almost fit.

These stairs are made of World War I or II (I don't know my history) battleship steel. We walked down the next 100 ft on these stairs. It was pretty amazing.

This is the ceiling of the cave.

The view looking up at all of those stairs. At this point I'm thinking "Oh yeah, we have to walk back up these stairs". Let me tell you, I was huffing and puffing whereas Morgan was ahead of me doing just fine.
