July was full of a bunch of random activities. We've tried to keep busy:)
Noel drew this picture at Church. She said that this is a picture of our house with Jesus. Notice the sun, the tree, and the flowers and her name which she continues to write very well:)
Our local library puts on these free activities weekly throughout the Summer. So we've tried to go to those each week. At this particular activity they learned about the "gross" yet fascinating and cool things about nature and such. One of these things was dung beetles and how they eat and roll elephant poop around with their back legs to their homes. So they had an activity outside where each kid could take two halves of a pool noodle and poke at a large beach ball, and roll it backwards, just like dung beetles do with poop. It was pretty silly and cute and quite educational:)
They also learned about earwax and it's purpose so they made q-tips out of stick pretzels, mini marshmallows, and peanut butter on the tips:) Once again, cute, silly, educational and this time, tasty:)
Morgan took Noel out on a Daddy/Daughter Date. It had been a while since they've been able to do that and Sam and I had our first Mommy/Son Date.
Sam and I before our date.
For our parent/child dates, it turned out, Morgan and Noel went to Chuck-a-Rama (a local buffet, which our kids call Chuck-a-Grandma, they literally think that that is what it's called:)) and Samuel and I also went there without either of us knowing that that is where we would be going. We laughed about the situation when we saw each other but still stayed separate so we could still do our one on one dates with our kiddos.
Sam with his chicken at the buffet.
Sneaking in a kiss on our hot date.
Samuel got into my red chap stick. Silly little boy.
Another library activity.
At this particular library activity the kids learned about our bodies and how amazing they are, just like superheros having superpowers.
The kids have done some painting. They LOVE painting.
We've had some fun and totally awesome thunderstorms and some huge downpours. Usually we'll go out and run around in them.
We recently had a fire here, on the mountainside. Supposedly teenagers and fireworks don't mix.
Morgan and I went out on a date for his birthday and we went to an Arcade where the machines take nickels. He LOVES this place! We had some fun!
While Morgan's been interning this summer for Goldman Sachs the kids just soak in every drop of time they get with their dad. It's been rough but we got through it! He just finished with his internship last week. Now we are in for some more adventures and decision making for our future once he finishes up with his Masters this next April 2015!
We got a double jogging stroller a few weeks back and I've taken the kids on some fun, challenging walks (these hills make quite a workout). We sure live in a beautiful area.
Noel's stick people have improved. The legs and arms no longer come out of the head. They have bodies now! :) She is also learning how to write "I love you", and "Mom" and "Dad".
Soaking in more time with Daddy.
